I was referred to Kathy at Blinds Galore and More by my friend who was very happy with her plantation shutters and vertiglide blinds. Kathy was very helpful by answering my questions about plantation shutters, so I scheduled a meeting. Her and Rick came to our home after i needed to cancel our first appointment at the last minute due to a medical issue. They brought their samples and described the quality in the products she sold. We were very happy and placed an order. Kathy suggested we cover our windows as we were leaving town and placed paper covers up until our shutters arrived. They hung our shutters when we were out of town, and knowing how excited we were to see them, sent us many pictures as they were installed. Two products that arrived were not up to Kathy's standards, so she promptly returned them and had replacements installed when we were back home. Rick and his helper were here to install the rest. They installed them, and were quick to make sure everything was perfect! They then made sure to clean up anything left behind in the install. We are extremely happy with the quality and all of Kathy's service. I would highly recommend her to anyone considering shutters. Oh wait, I already did refer them to friends who have also ordered from Kathy. We had Hunter Douglas window coverings and loved the look, quality and great customer service. When we called Kathy at Blinds Galore and More and told her what we wanted to do she came out the next day and showed us several of the Hunter Douglas products. We needed blinds that would block the sun from coming through and interfering with our TV watching. She had the perfect solution for us. Kathy showed us the newest product, Silhouette Duolite, which has two shades in one, providing all the benefits of a traditional Silhouette shading but with an independently operated room-darkening roller shade nestled behind it. The shades were perfect. They were just what we needed. We motorized all the windows in our living room so now we can select any or all windows to open, close and even block out the sun. The custom shutters for the eyebrow curved window pictured here are so beautiful (the pelican loves them too). They hold out heat and sun or open at any desired angle to let in the natural light. The room darkening shades recommended for sliders are also beautiful and easy to open and close at desired levels of light and privacy. After one year of debating this, I called Kathy and was immediately convinced that I needed her expertise. This is an expensive treatment and one mistake would cost me hundreds of dollars. Kathy quoted me a ballpark, which of course, was higher than the dot com shutters, but it wasn't unreasonable. Especially considering they would be expertly installed and any mistake would fall on her. She showed me samples of extremely well made composite shutters and knew exactly what frame would be best. BTW--I would have picked wrong making an online selection. The shutters came one week later which online was 6-12 weeks. They are beautiful and look twice the cost. They make the rooms gorgeous. The installation was expert and perfect in every detail. We are doing three more bedrooms just because I feel they add tremendous value to my home. Worth every penny, don't make the mistake I almost did by ordering online. I know they do a lot more than just shutters, but I can only speak from my specific product experience. We could have gone anywhere else and purchased the less expensive “Made in China” shutters, but opted for the quality solid louvers and frames made in the USA would provide us with. We love the added ambiance and style the new shutters have given our home and could not be more satisfied. Major home improvement purchases require significant product research, reliance on word-of-mouth testimonials, local references, and occasionally just plain good luck with finding a great business to work with. When I am searching for somewhere to do business, I expect three very important areas to be addressed:1. Product: I look for quality before quantity and always opt for the best within my price range. 2. Installation: There is an expectation of efficiency and skilled workmanship devoid of flaws or camouflaged mistakes. 3. Customer Service both pre-sale and post installation is critical and often very elusive in this day and age. Since we were out of the state we asked Kathy if she could use the lock box and give us an estimate, which she did. Unsure about what product to use and cost we put it off until we returned to Florida. Since we were only in town for a week we called Kathy and asked if she could come over on such a short notice, which she did. She went over our options and at no time tried to pressure us. We agreed upon plantation shutters and were told Rick would install them before we returned. True to their word Rick installed them and sent us pictures. Kathy led us through all the blind and shutter options and made suggestions. They removed all the old, hideous, window treatments and spackled and painted the holes left from the previous hardware. The new blinds and shutters are beautiful. We found a small problem with one of the brackets. I sent a message to Kathy and she called me immediately even though it was a holiday.
